When a fan’s favorite actor ventures out to do other projects, you can be assured that they will be very well supported! And that’s exactly the case for Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard.

Since his breakout role as Mike Wheeler in the Netflix hit, Wolfhard has been one of the more active of his co-stars to do other projects. Many times these talented stars can end up being typecast, or only find success in that one famous role. But the young actor is continuing to make a name for himself outside of Stranger Things!

Other than being the D&D nerd we all love, the actor is also recognized for his role as Richie Tozier in the It movies. He’s staying busy, recently starring in Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and lending his voice to Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Pinnochio movie for Netflix.

Wolfhard has proved his talent for the past four seasons on Stranger Things and other projects in front of the camera. Now, he’s taking that talent behind the scenes.

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard directorial debut with Hell of a Summer

Wolfhard is making his directorial debut with new horror-comedy film, Hell of a Summer. Not only that, Deadline reports that along with co-directing duties with actor Billy Bryk, the 19-year-old also wrote the script and will star alongside Bryk in the upcoming film. Actor Fred Hechinger will also co-star with them both.

Production company 30West is fully financing and executive producing the film, according to Deadline. There aren’t many details about the film’s plot yet, so we’ll just have to be patient until we get more news.

The news outlet reports production kicks off in Ontario, Canada this month. I’m going to assume filming for this movie isn’t going to provide any conflicts with Stranger Things season 5 production. The Duffer Brothers said they’re taking a bit of a break in July before jumping into the writer’s room to work on the fifth and final season in the first week of August.

So Wolfhard still has plenty of time to work on his new film. It’s just so exciting to see the Stranger Things star continue to flourish in the industry. We can’t wait to see Hell of a Summer!
