Is Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between based on a book?

Jordan Fisher and Talia Ryder lead the cast of Netflix’s latest YA romance film, Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between.

This charming new movie follows a high school couple who agree to break-up at the end of their senior year, before going to college to avoid any messy heartbreak and complicated feelings. But when the time comes to end things, it proves much more difficult than they would have guessed.

Given Netflix’s track record for adapting teen rom-com books into movies (like the successful To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy or The Kissing Booth), it’s not surprising that fans would be curious as to whether or not this new film is also based on a book.

Is Hello, Goodbye, and Everything In Between based on a book?

Yes, Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between is based on a novel of the same name written by Jennifer E. Smith. Smith has written several successful books that have been adapted, or are in the process of being adapted, for screen.

Netflix is also adapting her book The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, which will star Haley Lu Richardson, Ben Hardy, Dexter Fletcher, Rob Delaney and Sally Phillips, with Jameela Jamil narrating.

Fisher will star in another Smith adaptation soon, too, of her 2019 novel Field Notes on Love. Dove Cameron will join him in the movie, which is expected to premiere on HBO Max.

All in all, Smith is an accomplished novelist who has had great success with her writing career. It’s great to see that so many of her books are receiving adaptations.
