Ever since Stranger Things season 4 vol. 2 brought the super-sized fourth season to a shocking end, fans of the series have been setting their sights on what could happen in Stranger Things season 5 — the final season. All clues point to a big season for Will Byers.

A viral fan-made Stranger Things season 5 poster by graphic designer Axel Almirón, which was shared by Noah Schnapp on Instagram and has been making the rounds on Twitter, brings an intriguing concept to life: Will and Vecna coming face-to-face.

Of course, the poster isn’t official from Netflix, but it certainly has Schnapp’s seal of approval (as well that of thousands of fans). Even though it’s fan art, it’s getting everyone excited for the upcoming final season, which the Duffer Brothers have been teasing.

Check out the incredible fan-made poster below, and let’s dive into how it connects to what we already know about Stranger Things season 5.

Will meets Vecna in fan-made Stranger Things season 5 poster

Throughout Stranger Things season 4, a number of our Hawkins tried-and-trues had the unfavorable opportunity to meet Vecna, from Chrissy’s fatal first encounter to Eleven’s final battle. But Will, an Upside Down favorite, (thankfully) didn’t have a run-in with the villain.

The new season 5 concept art from a talented artist finds a menacing Vecna hovering overhead Will, who sports Eleven’s signature nose bleed. As much as we want Will to be safe in season 5, we would be so lucky to have a poster as thrilling as this one.

The artist also made another concept poster for season 5 based on the closing scene of season 4. Eleven, Hopper, Mike, Nancy, and the Byers family stand in the field behind the cabin and look onto Hawkins as a dark cloud and red lightning overtake the town. In the poster, The Mind Flayer returns, which was seemingly teased in the season finale when Will’s neck tingled.

Following the end of season 4, fans have surmised that season 5 will be a big one for Will, and that’s been backed up by the few details the Duffer Brothers have shared about the season so far. We know that the Upside Down is frozen on the date Will went missing, a key twist that will play a large part in wrapping up the series and its mythology.

Until the final season premieres on Netflix, we won’t know what goes down in the Upside Down, but with fan-made designs keeping the excitement and theories alive, the time will fly by. We’ll have to wait and see what else is revealed once the Duffers start writing season 5 later this summer.
