Somehow, someway, we made it to the end of Stranger Things season 4 and there is just SO much to talk about! The final two episodes of the exciting new installment premiered on Netflix in the early hours this morning, and many dedicated fans decided to pull an all-nighter to tune in so they wouldn’t miss a beat.

As teased by star Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, we expected more death this time around. But who specifically meets their end in Stranger Things season 4 volume 2? Many fans went into the new episodes with fear for Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) life.

Spoilers ahead for Stranger Things season 4 volume 2.

When Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 opens up, Eleven is still at Dr. Owens’ (Paul Reiser) lab, just after reliving what happened to her and Number One (Jamie Campbell Bower) back in the Rainbow Room at Hawkins Lab. It’s certainly a whole lot of information to process, but Eleven is worried about one thing. She wants to make sure her friends in Hawkins are okay.

Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) and Dr. Owens explain everything to her, and she decides she needs to go help them. But there’s a few things in the way. For one, Brenner absolutely does not want her to go. And he’s willing to go to great lengths to make sure she doesn’t.

Is Eleven killed in Stranger Things season 4?

Fortunately, we can all breathe a sigh of relief because Eleven does not die in Stranger Things season 4 volume 2. But it’s pretty close. In episode 8, “Papa,” she’s injected with something by Brenner who wants to keep her from leaving the lab. She passes out and Dr. Brenner carries her outside, but once they get out of the lab there’s military everywhere. A couple of them are in a helicopter shooting at them, and they even take out Brenner. They get the green-light to shoot and kill Eleven, but she wakes up in time and doesn’t let that happen.

Instead, Eleven uses her powers and causes the helicopter to crash and explode. It’s a HUGE explosion that signals her powers are definitely fully back.

Of course, this isn’t the only dangerous situation Eleven gets into in season 4 volume 2. In order to help her friends back in Hawkins, she decides she can fight Vecna if she goes into Max’s (Sadie Sink) mind and piggybacks to him. This could potentially be a life-threatening situation to be in, but she doesn’t care. She wants to fight.

In episode 9, “The Piggyback,” she and Max find themselves in the Upside Down under Vecna’s control, and just when it seems like both characters will die, something happens. Out in the real world, Will urges Mike (Finn Wolfhard) to talk to Eleven, reminding her how amazing she is and how powerful she can be. Because of this, she finds the strength and temporarily takes down Vecna, though she doesn’t kill him. She saves herself and others when she does this, but it’s a close call for Max.

At the end of Stranger Things season 4, Max is alive, but she’s in a coma. Eleven saves her, and we hope to see Max healthy again in season 5.
