Does Diego die in The Umbrella Academy season 3?

After an extended break, The Umbrella Academy season 3 has finally made its way to Netflix and reunited us with our favorite band of superpowered misfits!

Given the crazy way in which season 2 ended with The Umbrella Academy ending up back in the present day and coming face-to-face with The Sparrow Academy, fans expected a crazy season ahead. Well calling this season crazy might be an understatement as it’s filled with twist after twist and once again reminds viewers why The Umbrella Academy is truly unlike any other show currently on air.

The season also happens to be one of the bloodiest seasons yet in terms of the number of lead characters who perish across the season. There are a lot of deaths across The Umbrella Academy season 3, but is Diego among the characters we bid farewell to?

Does Diego die in The Umbrella Academy? (Season 3)

If Diego happens to be your favorite character, you’re going to be relieved to know that Diego does not die in The Umbrella Academy season 3 and is very much still alive as the season comes to a close.

While there are a few notable deaths across season 3, Diego is not one of them, though he does have a close call during his and Lila’s trip through the portal in the Buffalo Suite to Hotel Oblivion. When the pair make their way to Hotel Oblivion, they encounter the realm’s guardian who attacks the pair, intent on killing them.

Although they make it back through the portal alive, Diego loses his ring and pinky finger which are both sliced off his hand by the blade thrown by the mysterious guardian.

Diego has another close encounter with death in the season 3 finale when it appears that Sir Reginald is about to kill the remaining Hargreeves children, Lila and Sloane, as the mysterious machine drained them of their life force which apparently powered said machine.

Fortunately, Allison stepped in to stop him before the process was complete and her siblings were killed in the process.

It remains unclear where the story will go next but should season 4 happen Diego should be a part of it as the character survived season 3 and was also involved in one of the season’s bigger twists when it was revealed that Lila was pregnant!
