What is The Umbrella Academy season 3 about?

On June 22, The Umbrella Academy season 3 will finally be released on Netflix and fans can’t wait to see what the new season will explore after the explosive season 2 finale. A lot happened at the end of season 2, and it looks like the Umbrella Academy has gotten themselves in another difficult situation.

Created by Steve Blackman and developed by Jeremy Slater comes a story about a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who come together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death while also facing an impending apocalypse.

After the crazy events of the first season, season 2 finds the Umbrella Academy scattered across Dallas, Texas during the early 1960s living alternative lives while there’s a threat of a new imminent apocalypse. Although the superhero siblings seemingly managed to get themselves out of this tricky situation, they quickly find out that not everything is quite back to normal.

The Umbrella Academy season 3 synopsis

The third season picks up where the season 2 finale left off. The Umbrella Academy has returned to the present time after putting an end to the 1963 apocalypse, but when they arrive back at the Umbrella Academy mansion, they realize that things have changed. Their dad, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, informs them that the mansion is not the Umbrella Academy anymore. Instead, it’s called the Sparrow Academy, and it also appears that their dad raised a new superhero team called the Sparrow Academy with Ben a part of the team.

Once the Umbrella Academy and Sparrow Academy meet, they immediately clash and engage in a showdown. But an issue with the Sparrow Academy is the least of the Umbrella Academy’s concerns. Once again, the Umbrella Academy will have to save the world, but this time around, from a time paradox called a Kugelblitz.

"After putting a stop to 1963’s doomsday, the Umbrella Academy return home to the present, convinced they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed this godforsaken timeline once and for all. But after a brief moment of celebration, they realize things aren’t exactly (okay, not at all) how they left them. Enter the Sparrow Academy. Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns. Navigating challenges, losses, and surprises of their own – and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused) — now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong. Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?"
