The Umbrella Academy‘s amazing ensemble is about to get even larger!

This season, the show’s amazing cast welcomes a handful of new faces with the addition of what might be the series’ largest casting wave yet. The injection of new cast members is largely due to the introduction of The Sparrow Academy, whose arrival was first teased in the season 2 finale when the Hargreeves ended up in an alternate timeline.

In season 3, the Sparrows are set to play a key role in the show and Netlflix has cast quite an amazing batch of actors to help bring the characters to life!

The Sparrow Academy cast

The Umbrella Academy features an incredible ensemble filled with amazing actors you’re likely to recognize from their roles in both film and television. Leading The Sparrow Academy cast are Justin Cornwell,  Britne Oldford, Genesis Rodriguez, Cazzie David, Jake Epstein and “Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube.”

Justin Cornwell as Marcus, Sparrow Number One

Joining the cast as The Sparrow Academy’s leader is Justin Cornwell as Marcus, the glue that keeps the Sparrows together. Much like Luther, Marcus has super strength and is quite compassionate. He’s also described as oozing confidence, honest, charming and graceful but lethal.

Where have you seen him before? Netflix fans are most likely to recognize Justin Cornwell from his role as Young Jeronicus in 2020’s Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey. In addition to the beloved holiday film, Cornwell has also appeared in a handful of series including The InBetween, I Am the Night and Training Day.

What’s next? Following his appearance in The Umbrella Academy, Cornwell is next set to appear in the action crime thriller Havoc.

Justin H. Min as Ben Hargreeves, Sparrow Number Two

Justin H. Min once again returns as Ben Hargreeves, but the Ben we meet in season 3 is far from the sweet Ben we know and love from past seasons. The Sparrow’s Ben is vicious, pragmatic, and described as a Machiavellian tactician. He’s determined to claim the top spot as the Sparrow’s leader, no matter the costs.

Where have you seen him before? While Justin H. Min is playing a new variant of his character this season, he’s far from new to the cast having appeared in both seasons of The Umbrella Academy as The Umbrella Academy’s Ben. You might also recognize him from some of his many other roles including Dating After College, After Yang and Pure Genius.

What’s next? Min is next set to appear in the thriller Detained and upcoming Netflix comedy-drama Beef, which also stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.

Britne Oldford as Fei, Sparrow Number Three

Fei has quite a unique ability with the power to manifest a murder of crows to attack her enemies and serve as her eyes in the sky. She’s often the smartest person in the room and is more than reasonable, but once you cross her there’s nothing she won’t do to get even.

Where have you seen her before? Britne Oldford is no stranger to TV so chances are you recognize her from one of her many roles on series such as Bull, Blindspot, The Flash, God Friended Me, The Path, Hunters, Ravenswood and American Horror Story.

What’s next? After her stint as Fei in The Umbrella Academy season 3, Oldford is set to appear in the short film Five Song Tour alongside Alice Kremelberg and Amazon’s Dead Ringers series, which is a  reimagining with a gender swap of David Cronenberg’s 1980s film of the same name.

Jake Epstein as Alphonso, Sparrow Number Four

It’s hard to believe it’s Jake Epstein under those prosthetics used to showcase the toll years of crime-fighting have taken on him. With the ability to inflict pain on others by mirroring the attacks against him — in other words, with every attack an opponent deals to him, the damage is also reflected on them. To compensate for his appearance, Alphonso has developed a witty sense of humor and verbally battering anyone who gets up in his face.

Where have you seen him before? While Jake Epstein has appeared in a number of shows and movies across his career, odds are you’re most likely to recognize him from his roles as Craig Manning in Degrassi: The Next Generation or Brian Altman from Suits.

What’s next? Currently, Epstein is not attached to any projects beyond The Umbrella Academy season 3 but we imagine that should change soon!

Genesis Rodriguez as Sloane, Sparrow Number Five

A true standout addition to the cast is Genesis Rodriguez as Sloane, a romantic and dreamer eager for more in life. Her ability to manipulate the gravity of herself and others, allows herself and others to fly among other things, among other things. She’s also incredibly loyal to her family which often leads her to put her family before herself.

Where have you seen her before? Telenovela fans are likely to recognize Genesis Rodriguez from series such as Prisionera, Dame Chocolate and Doña Bárbara. You might also her voice from some of her many voice roles which include Honey Lemon in Big Hero 6 (and Big Hero 6: The Series) or as Perfuma in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.

What’s next? Rodriguez is set to next appear in the thriller Fixation and Kevin Smith’s Jaws parody Moose Jaws.

Cazzie David as Jayme, Sparrow Number Six

Don’t expect Jayme to say much, but don’t underestimate her! Cazzie David plays the Sparrow’s Number Six, who is sharp as a knife and possesses the ability to spit a hallucination-inducing venom from her mouth.

Where have you seen her before? Unlikely many of this season’s new cast additions, Cazzie David is still relatively new to the game having only appeared in a handful of titles thus far including the TV mini-series Eighty-Sized, Disney’s Hannah Montana and the TV movie Half-Empty.

What’s next? At this time, David is not attached to any new projects following The Umbrella Academy season 3 so we’ll have to wait to see what’s to come next.

Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube as Christopher, Sparrow Number Seven

If you’re looking to see who’s behind the character of Christopher, a telekinetic cube of unknown origin, we have disappointing news for you. There is no actor credited for voicing the Sparrow Academy’s oracle known for his amazing advice and mediator skills. Instead, Netflix simply had fun with the casting of this particular character in touting him as being played by the fictional Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube.
