Are The Umbrella Academy stars David Castañeda and Ritu Arya dating in real life?

We’re just days away from the premiere of The Umbrella Academy season 3, and I cannot wait to see how the Hargreeves siblings figure out their next mess. As you probably remember, season 2 ended on the cliffhanger when the family finally arrived back home in their present-day after saving the world again, only to find out they somehow messed up the timelines and now, the Sparrow Academy lives there. It’s not going to be easy co-existing for these two families.

The Umbrella Academy season 3 sees the return of some of our favorite characters, including dysfunctional couple Diego Hargreeves (David Castañeda) and Lila Pitts (Ritu Arya). The two fan-favorites meet in season 2 when they’re both inmates at a mental asylum, and their blossoming relationship is extremely entertaining to watch. By the end of season 2, they’re no longer together, but they do find out something very important. As it turns out, Lilia is actually one of the Umbrellas, having been born with powers on October 1, 1989.

If you love Diego and Lila as much as we do, you’re probably wondering whether or not the two actors who play them are also romantically involved. Here’s what we know!

Are Diego and Lila from The Umbrella Academy dating in real life?

There have been a lot of rumors swirling since season 2 came out that David Castañeda and Ritu Arya are a real-life item, however neither stars have confirmed this is true. They both share photos and videos with one another on Instagram, but some fans believe they’re simply roommates while filming the show and nothing more. It’s hard to tell when the cast is so close, but if we’d have to guess, we’d think the two are single in real life and not dating each other. At this time, of course, this is just speculation.

Previously, Castañeda was believed to have been in a relationship with fellow actor Ana Villafañe, with the Broadway star sharing a PDA selfie of the two together on social media back in 2019. Since then, however, we haven’t seen any other pics of the two, leading us to believe it might’ve been a short-lived romance.

Fans on social media have claimed that Arya was or is dating a musician, but we were unable to find further information about that online.
