Netflix movies to watch for Father’s Day 2022

The Adam Project (2022)

The Adam Project is the perfect movie to watch for Father’s Day. The sci-fi film was directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay co-written by Jonathan Tropper, T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin. The story follows a time-traveling fighter pilot who accidentally travels back to the year 2022 and enlists the help of his 12-year-old self to go on a mission to save the future. But in order to successfully achieve his mission to save the world, the time-traveling pilot must also team up with his late father, who has more intel.

Ryan Reynolds stars as Adam Reed, the time-traveling pilot, and Walker Scobell plays a young Adam Reed. The rest of the cast includes Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, Catherine Keener, and Zoe Saldaña. Although the film is about time travel, seeing the relationship between older and younger Adam Reed and their dad was very touching to watch. I believe many people will be able to relate to the Reeds’ family dynamic. So make sure to add The Adam Project to your watchlist for Father’s Day as soon as possible!

Father of the Year (2018)

Father of the Year might’ve come out in 2018, but it’s definitely one of those movies you can always go back and rewatch, and what better time than Father’s Day. The comedy film stars David Spade as a foolish and reckless unemployed man named Wayne who ends up causing trouble for his son Ben by taking a bet way too seriously. It all begins when Ben and his best friend Larry make a bet that their fathers would be able to beat the other in a fight. What was supposed to be a silly bet turns serious when Wayne shows up on Larry’s father’s doorstep ready to fight. Due to Wayne’s reckless actions, Ben loses his job and relationships are ruined.

If you’re looking for something funny and light to watch with your dad, Father of the Year should definitely be on your watchlist for the night.

Fatherhood (2021)

Fatherhood is a drama film helmed by Paul Weitz from a screenplay written by Weitz and Dana Stevens. It’s a movie adaptation of a memoir titled Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love by Matthew Logelin. The story follows a widowed dad named Matthew who struggles with grief and how to raise his daughter after the unexpected death of his wife. Kevin Hart stars in the leading role and received praise for his performance. The rest of the wonderful cast includes Melody Hurd, Alfre Woodard, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Anthony Carrigan, Frankie R. Faison, and Paul Reiser. This film is more on the serious side, so we recommend saving it for the last movie of the night.

Yes Day (2021)

Yes Day is the perfect movie to watch for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day! The story follows parents, Allison and Carlos, who decide to give their kids a day where they get to make the rules. For 24 hours, the parents must say “yes’ to their kids’ wildest requests. Obviously, giving kids permission to do whatever they want can only end one way: complete mayhem. Jennifer Garner and Édgar Ramírez star as Allison and Carlos, respectively. Jenna Ortega, Julian Lerner, and Everly Carganilla play Allison and Carlos kids. We highly recommend watching Yes Day with your dad on Father’s Day. I promise he’ll be laughing throughout the entire film.

Hustle - Netflix movies

Hustle (2022)

Hustle premiered on Netflix on June 3, and it’s clearly faring well on the streamer. As of June 15, it’s ranked at the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s top 10 movie list. The sports drama film stars Adam Sandler as a down-on-his-luck basketball scout named Stanley who discovers a talented street ball player in Spain. With hopes of getting back into the NBA, Stanley ends up bringing the basketball player to the US without his team’s approval.

Even though the film mainly focuses on Stanley and his attempt at reviving his career, viewers also get to see the dynamic with his daughter, Alex. Due to his job, Stanley barely gets to spend time with his daughter and has missed several of her birthdays. Still, Stanley tries his best to maintain a good relationship with his daughter by making up for the lost time when he can.  We give Hustle a 10/10 and suggest that it’s one of the first films you watch on Father’s Day.
