Netflix is adding 31 new movies and shows this week
Netflix is adding a bunch of new movies and shows to their lineup this week. While not all of the additions are brand new, many of them are.
The new movies and shows coming this week include a documentary on a famous actress and singer, a new Netflix Original comedy series, a new cooking competition show, and a new action drama.
Netflix’s newest documentary is all about Jennifer Lopez. Halftime looks at Lopez’s career and the pressure she has faced living in the spotlight for most of her life. It also shows how the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show came together and what she wants from the second half of her career. Halftime hits Netflix on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

Melissa McCarthy is also back on Netflix and this time, with her husband, Ben Falcone. God’s Favorite Idiot comes to Netflix on Wednesday, June 15. The series follows tech support employee Clark Thompson (played by Falcone) as he falls in love with his co-worker Amy Luck (played by McCarthy). Unfortunately (for him), he also becomes a messenger of God at the same time.

He also happens to glow which means that everyone knows something is up and it leads him to become quite the celebrity.

More in the mood for a cooking show? Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend is also headed to Netflix this week on Wednesday, June 15. The show features a group of new Iron Chefs and new opponents who are determined to beat them in a culinary battle. The new Iron Chefs include Curtis Stone, Marcus Samuelsson, Ming Tsai, Dominque Crenn, and Gabrielle Cámara.
It will be interesting to see how this version compares to the original Japanese show and the Food Network reboot.

Chris Hemsworth’s latest movie, Spiderhead, is also headed to Netflix this week. The action drama is an adaptation of the short story, “Escape from Spiderhead” by George Saunders.
The story follows a couple of inmates in a state-of-the-art penitentiary where they are given experimental mind-altering drugs by an evil genius (played by Hemsworth).
Besides Hemsworth, the movie stars Jurnee Smollett, Charles Parnell, BeBe Bettencourt, Tess Haubrich, and Miles Teller. It will be available to stream starting on Friday, June 17.
