First Kill is now streaming on Netflix! Unsurprisingly, it’s what everyone is watching and can’t stop talking about. While some people are still making their way through the episodes, others have finished and have tons of questions about what happened in the first season.

First Kill follows two teenage girls (Juliette and Cal) who for obvious reasons can’t be together, but still can’t help but fall in love. Why are they forbidden to be with each other? Well, one is a vampire and the other is a monster hunter. Their lives must simply not intertwine because it’s against their beliefs. But once they’re both tasked with making their first kill and they meet each other, all they’ve ever known quickly goes out the window.

Obviously, viewers rooted for Cal and Juliette to get together and for them to ride off into the sunset, but does this actually happen? Do Cal and Juliette end up together? Here’s what happens to Cal and Juliette in First Kill.

Spoilers from First Kill ahead!

Do Cal and Juliette end up together in First Kill?

Sadly, Cal and Juliette do not end up together at the end of the season. Cal and Juliette constantly received pushback from their families, but they refused to let their families separate them. Over the season, we watched Cal and Juliette sneak off together to meet several times and even watched Cal undergo a severing to unlink her to Juliette. Still, nothing could tear the star-crossed lovers apart. Well, not their families, at least. It took Juliette accidentally turning Theo into a vampire for Cal and Juliette to break up for good.

Although Cal accepts Juliette for what she is, it’s still hard for her not to view other vampires as monsters. I mean, Cal was raised to think all monsters are bad, so this is understandable. Also, Juliette turned Theo into the thing that killed his mother. This makes sense why Cal can’t easily forgive Juliette. It was a form of betrayal in Cal’s eyes.

When Juliette turned Theo, she didn’t do it on purpose. She tried to drain him to give him an honorable death but accidentally turned him. This wasn’t surprising because Juliette is still a baby Legacy vampire. She’s still getting used to things. But no matter how much Juliette tries to explain to Cal that she didn’t mean to turn Theo, Cal just isn’t hearing it. Cal couldn’t see past her anger to see that Juliette meant no harm.

During their conversation outside the Burns house, Juliette confesses her love to Cal, and even though Cal hesitates for a second, she still tells Juliette to stay away from her and that she never wants to see her again. But what was really gut-wrenching to watch was to hear Cal tell Juliette that she would spend the rest of her life trying to figure out how to kill her and the rest of the Legacy vampires. So how will Cal and Juliette come back from this? Well, we don’t find out in season 1.

Hopefully, Netflix renews First Kill for a second season so that we can see the continuation of Cal and Juliette’s love story. This just can’t be the end, right? Fans deserve to see the star-crossed lovers defy all odds and end up together.
