Uncle From Another World release updates, voice cast, synopsis, first-look photos and more

A new anime series titled Uncle From Another World will be coming to Netflix this year and we’ve been keeping track of every new piece of information released about it to share with you.

Uncle From Another World is an anime television series adaptation by AtelierPontdarc animation production company. It’s based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hotondoshindeiru. Shigeki Kawai signed on as director with Kenta Ihara as series composer and scriptwriter and Kazuhiro Oota as character designer.

Uncle From Another World release updates

Netflix has not announced an official release date, but the streamer did reveal that the anime series will be coming in July 2022. Fingers crossed, the anime is given an early July release, like the first week of the month. We’ll definitely share the release date once it’s announced.

Uncle From Another World voice cast

Jun Fukuyama voices the protagonist, Takafumi. You might recognize Fukuyama from his voice work on the anime series Assassination Classroom, Code Geass and Blue Exorcist. The second lead is voiced by Takehito Koyasu. Koyasu voices the character of Uncle. You’ve probably watched some of Koyasu’s other anime series like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Attack on Titan.

Uncle From Another World synopsis

It’s about a young man’s uncle who wakes from a long coma with magical powers and a love for video games.

"​Seventeen years ago, Takafumi’s uncle fell into a coma, but now he’s back like a man risen from his grave. Soon, Takafumi discovers two bizarre things: His uncle treasures video games above all else, and, while comatose, he was actually transported to another world as some heroic guardian! Now, not only does Takafumi have to room with an uncle who is literally magical, he also has to catch the guy up on two decades of history—smartphones, high-speed internet, modern anime tropes…and the traumatic outcome of the ’90s console war!"
