Hustle starring Adam Sandler and real-life professional basketball player Juancho Hernangómez is now streaming on Netflix, and it’s a feel-good inspiring sports drama that might even make you shed a tear or two.

Spoilers ahead for Hustle

In the movie, Sandler plays struggling basketball scout Stanley Sugerman, who is trying to revive his career. He travels to Spain and finds an amazing player during a match on an outdoor court, but his team is unwilling to hear him out so Stanley brings Bo (Hernangómez) back anyway and tries to get him drafted.

What happens at the end of the movie? Does Bo achieve his NBA dreams? Does Stanley become an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers? Let’s break down the Hustle ending.

How did Stanley injure his hand?

Stanley had a drunk driving incident in college while out with his old friend Leon Rich (Kenny Smith). He ran his car into a pole and held out his arm to keep Leon from flying out the window, resulting in his hand getting squished into pulp and him spending six months in jail.

Why did Bo get an assault charge?

Bo’s ex, Lucia’s mother, wanted to try and get full custody of Lucia (Ainhoa Pillet) after learning from her new boyfriend that doing so could get her money from the government. When Bo went to her house to discuss it, he got into an altercation with her new boyfriend.

Hustle ending: Does Bo get into the NBA?

Bo is eventually picked to join the NBA and becomes part of the Boston Celtics, which is fitting since Bo’s actor, Juancho Hernangómez, also played for the Celtics from 2021-2022, although he has since been traded twice, to the San Antonio Spurs, and, most recently, the Utah Jazz.

His relationship with Stanley becomes so important to Bo that he gets a tattoo depicting an oak tree and the words “never back down” written beneath it. The only other tattoos he has are meant for his mom and daughter.

Hustle ending: Does Stanley become a coach?

Yes, Stanley gets his job back as assistant coach of the Philadelphia 76ers and in the end the Sixers play against the Celtics, with new teammate Bo Cruz.

What happens at the end of Hustle?

The final scenes show Stanley preparing to go coach a game between the Sixers and the Celtics, which Bo is now part of. He is on the phone with Alex, who is now attending film school and at a sports bar to watch the game and support Bo and her dad.

Stanley and Bo give each other an affectionate greeting before the game starts and we see Bo’s new tattoo honoring Stanley. Before the game begins, Stanley gives one of the Sixers team members some pointers on how to beat Bo on the court.

Does Hustle have a post-credits scene?

Sort of. During the credits we get to see a basketball game played between many of the players featured in the movie together, such as Hernangómez and Anthony Edwards (who played Kermit Wilts). The credits also showcase some older footage from legacy NBA players like Dirk Nowitzski, Allen Iverson, Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and Julius Erving (Dr. J).
