Surviving Summer season 2 updates: Is another season happening?

The Netflix Australian teen drama Surviving Summer has outdone expectations and become a chart-topping affair that has entertained subscribers from start to finish. After watching all of the first run, it’s probably safe to assume that several viewers would like to know more about Surviving Summer season 2.

The exciting ten episodes of the first outing follow a rebellious teen from Brooklyn named Summer Torres, who gets in some trouble and is sent to stay with friends and family in Australia, specifically a tiny town called Shorehaven on the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia. Despite her exhausting efforts to despise her new home, she ends up falling in love with the unique people, the little town, and the surf, of course.

Starring in this exceptional endeavor is a solid cast of players consisting of Sky Katz, Kai Lewins, Lilliana Bowery, Joao Marinho, and Savannah La Rain. In addition, the Australian series was created by Joanna Werner and Josh Mapleston.

So far, the Netflix series has been very well-received by subscribers, spending some time at the top of the streamer’s Top Ten TV show charts and becoming yet another must-watch series under the banner of the streaming powerhouse. But what is happening with the future of the show, mainly the status of Surviving Summer season 2?

Is Surviving Summer season 2 happening at Netflix?

There is probably a lot of speculation concerning what is going on with the potential sophomore installment of Surviving Summer. But unfortunately, as of writing this, there is no info on whether or not there is going to be season 2.

While this isn’t great news, it isn’t all the out of the ordinary either. Despite all the buzz surrounding the show with its Top Ten run, the streamer does take its time when discerning if they should order more entires. Fans should keep this in mind and rest assured that there is still plenty of time for Netflix to consider bringing Surviving Summer season 2 to its platform.

Fans most assuredly can’t imagine a world where Surviving Summer gets canceled, especially since it’s been popular with subscribers. Unfortunately, popularity doesn’t guarantee survival at the streamer; just ask Jupiter’s Legacy and Cowboy Bebop.

Even shows people enjoy sometimes get the ax, and it’s not an easy thing to go through for some. But the good news is Surviving Summer has yet to get the cancellation notice from the streamer, so there is still hope season 2 could happen.

If speculation is the particular name of the game when it comes to figuring out a potential release date for the still to be announced Surviving Summer season 2, then one might look at the summer of 2023 as the earliest it could arrive. But it wouldn’t be too out there to see it taking an additional year or two to show up, as is the case with most Netflix shows. But again, just a guess.
