Stranger Things season 4 is streaming now on Netflix and chances are if you’ve made it to this particular piece, you’re currently watching the fifth episode of the season and have a question about a certain reference made within it.
Warning: Stranger Things season 4 spoilers ahead.
After evading the armed men who stormed the Byers’ California house, the guard who helped save Jonathan, Will and Mike’s lives dies from his injuries. Following his death, the guys are forced to make an unexpected pitstop to bury his body in the desert.
While Jonathan, Will, and Mike have gotten somewhat used to seeing dead bodies and having to think on their feet to protect those they love, fleeing from armed gunmen and having a man die in the backseat of your car proves to be a bit too much for Argyle.
He soon begins to spiral which is when Jonathan encourages him to go back to the van and “do his thing,” to which Argyle replies, “Purple Palm Tree Delight,” before going off to the van while the others keep digging a grave for the guard.
What is Purple Palm Tree Delight in Stranger Things?
So what exactly is Purple Palm Tree Delight? While it’s not directly confirmed in the show, Purple Palm Tree Delight is a type of weed, one that is clearly a favorite of Argyle’s.
Is Purple Palm Tree Delight real?
While it’s possible a Purple Palm Tree Delight brand might pop up following the release of Stranger Things season 4, it does not appear to be a current brand of weed. The name created for the show was likely inspired by the Purple Haze Strain of weed which was popularized by the Jimi Hendrix song “Purple Haze.”
