We’re just days away from the premiere of Stranger Things season 4, and it’s not surprising that the sci-fi series is back in the Netflix Top 10 as fans rewatch some of the episodes to remember the key moments. It’s been almost three years since we got a new season of the show, so we don’t blame even the biggest fans if they have to go back to recall some scenes.

Stranger Things season 1 came out all the way back in July 2016, and so much has happened on the show since then! If you found yourself flipping through episodes of season 1 or doing a full rewatch and wondering what happened to one of the characters, we’re here to fill you in.

In season 1, the character Troy (Peyton Wich) is introduced as a bully towards Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and his friends. Throughout the season, he and another character named James (Cade Jones) pick on the group and even make fun of Will’s (Noah Schnapp) disappearance. In one particular scene in episode 6, Eleven saves Mike and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) from the bullies at the quarry. It’s awesome! This is when we get the iconic line from Dustin: “She’s our friend and she’s crazy!”

So what ever happened to Troy? He’s mentioned in the Stranger Things season 2 premiere, “MADMAX,” but never seen again. We’re not sure why his character wasn’t written into any other scenes, but it might have to do with all the other stuff going on in the show. At the beginning, the biggest threat to the friend group in Hawkins is bullies, but that quickly changes when they discover the Upside Down, Demogorgons, the Mind Flayer, and all the other monsters.

Is Troy (Peyton Wich) in Stranger Things season 4?

Netflix has not confirmed either way whether or not Wich will reprise his role in Stranger Things season 4, but we doubt it. This season is about to be the biggest yet, with Hopper (David Harbour) out in Russia, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) trying to get her powers back, and the introduction of the new villain, Vecna. I don’t think the season even has time for bullies!

If you’re interested in the character Troy and his backstory, however, we do have good news. The 2020 graphic novel Stranger Things: The Bully focuses on Troy and James, showing what they’re up to after season 1.

Be sure to catch Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 on Netflix this Friday, May 27, and stick around for volume 2 when it comes out on July 1.
