Welcome to Eden episode 8 recap: The Trip Back
The final episode of the season opens with Mayka trying to pick who to invite to the upcoming Eden Festival. Meanwhile, Gabi creates a profile on the social media platform that the Eden Foundation uses to find people. Later on the island, the Eden Foundation committee meets to plan the festival. Then, we cut to Isaac patching Erick’s wounds up.
While getting things ready for the festival, Charly tells Zoa that the cave is farther from the boat than he initially thought. He suggests help from Bel, but Zoa shoots it down. Then, Nico pulls Zoa to the side to discuss his plans to leave the island. But Zoa tells him that she doesn’t want to leave anymore so that he doesn’t ruin her plans of escaping.
Then we see Charly and Mayka talking and he tells her that he plans to leave the island. Mayka tells him to not go through with the plan because he will get killed. Ulises walks up and interrupts their conversation. He tells Charly that he needs to speak with him. Ulises assigns positions to Zoa, Charly, and Ibon for the festival. This makes their plan of escape complicated.
Zoa decides to steal a buggy and travel the island not knowing that the Eden committee are after her. She ends up stopping at the ocean. Bel finds Zoa and tells her that she will help her escape. Then, they sleep together. Brenda and Nico catch up to Zoa and see her and Bel making out. This enrages Nico.
Back at Isaac’s module, Erick is recovering from the attack and Astrid is watching over him. Isaac walks into the module and asks Astrid when he can leave Eden. She tells him soon and they all embrace. Then, there’s a close-up of a crayon drawing of what looks to be Isaac, Astrid, and Erick holding hands by the ocean.
In San Sebastián, Eden Foundation members interrogate David about the wristband in an abandoned building. David refuses to confess until they threaten to kill his mom. He tells the members that Gabi has the wristband. Then, they kill David. Later, we see Bel and Nico fighting in a horse shed over Zoa. Bel wins the fight and returns to her module. While taking a shower, she tells Zoa that she will provide oxygen tanks for her escape.
Later, we see the private investigator packing up her stuff to take to Eden, and then she’s on her way. While everyone on the island is getting ready for the festival, Africa is trying to get inside Astrid and Erick’s apartment to see Erick. Africa finds Ulises’s key card on the ground and uses it to open the door. As the guests arrive on the island and the festival starts, Africa searches Astrid and Erick’s apartment. She finds a star pendant in a drawer.
When Eloy cuts the power at the festival, Zoa’s escape plan is set in motion. Charly runs to the cave, grabs the oxygen tank, and swims to the boat. In the committee room at Astrid and Erick’s apartment, Africa stares at the painting on the wall. She notices a star symbol on the painting and places the star pendant on it. This opens a secret door to an elevator and Africa gets on it. Back at the festival, Zoa makes it to the cave and tries to dig for the oxygen tank. Ulises finds Zoa and tries to kill her but Ibon shows up and drowns him. Then, Eloy appears in the cave and tells Zoa to swim to the boat.
Africa walks out of the elevator into a room full of machines. She looks at one of the machines and notices a button that says “Open.” She hesitates before hitting the button. Immediately, a warning notification pops up on a computer at Isaac’s module, saying that a signal is being sent to space. In the secret room, Africa panics and can’t get the machine to stop.
Then, we see Zoa swim to the boat and Eloy pull Ulises’s body further into the ocean while Ibon watches. Isaac runs to tell Erick that the antenna’s been activated, and Africa tries to make it onto the elevator, but it closes. As Zoa makes it to the boat, she sees Gabi arriving on the island. Then, there’s a cut to the credits.
