Welcome to Eden episode 4 recap: The Other Shore

Welcome to Eden episode 4 begins with Africa sitting down to breakfast with Erick and Astrid. After the previous night, the implication is that Africa will remain on Eden. They coax her into signing a contract to make the decision permanent. Mayka helps Africa draft a message to her followers so they won’t worry about he prolonged absence.

Aldo has vanished and Zoa is concerned. She confronts Ulises about this and he promises to look for him. Ulises, Astrid and Erick organize a search party. Obviously, they must all know that Aldo is dead, but they can’t let everyone else know that yet.

Like Africa, Ibon has also been persuaded to stay in Eden and encouraged to sign a more binding contract to hold him to his agreement.

While the supposed “search” for Aldo is ongoing, Bel reaches out to Eloy for assistance. It looks like they’re part of a rebellion that doesn’t stand for what Astrid and Erick want from this organization. Bel is concerned for Zoa’s safety, especially since she keeps pushing and asking questions related to Judith and now Aldo.

Eloy hooks up with Orson so he can steal Orson’s card (Orson is at a higher security clearance/level than Eloy) and Bel uses it to infiltrate Mayka’s domain. There, she looks on the database to see what Zoa, Aldo, Ibon and Africa’s standing is. Aldo failed his evaluation, hence why he’s now dead. Ibon and Africa passed, but Zoa’s status is still pending, meaning it could go either way.

Back in Barcelona, Gabi and Zoa’s mom is zero help. She’s relapsing with alcohol. It’s unfortunate. Gabi is left to find her sister on her own. She starts to learn more about Eden via David, who Gabi manages to connect with on social media. By episode’s end, Gabi has boarded a bus to San Sebastian where she can meet with David and learn more in person.

And Gabi isn’t the only one looking for someone lost on Eden. Ibon’s powerful father hires a renowned private investigator named Brisa to look into his son’s disappearance.

During another “evaluation” session, Astrid pushes Charly to share his past. He reveals that when he was a kid, he and his brothers went swimming and they used to try to dive deeper than the other. One day their sister tagged along and Charly let her. She ended up drowning and he’s blamed himself ever since even though he was just a kid. After, Mayka and Charly connect. She’s more helpful in cheering him up than Astrid was.

Frustrated with the lack of answers, Zoa starts to turn on Nico. He offers to help her understand. That night, he takes her to a cove and shows her Judith’s dead body.
