The Dragon Prince season 4 confirmed for release in 2022

Good news for fans of The Dragon Prince! According to a new update from Netflix, The Dragon Prince season 4 is confirmed for a 2022 release. The possibility of a new season arriving this year appeared to be in doubt after the creators offered an end of year update in 2021 stating that the new season would not be completed until late 2022 at the earliest.

Based on that announcement, it sounded like the show wouldn’t be finished with production until then and then need a few more months in post to release in 2023. But if the Netflix animation news is accurate, then that means things are moving along at a quicker pace and the show will actually return this year.

When will The Dragon Prince season 4 be released on Netflix?

We still don’t have a clear release window yet, but I’m guessing we’re still looking at a Q4 release. It seems likely that the animated saga will come back in late fall or winter. In the sizzle reel Netflix releases alongside their animated series preview you can actually catch a quick glimpse of footage from the new season. At only a few seconds in length, it’s not much, but it’s a nice way of letting fans know that the series is still thriving.

The Dragon Prince has not released new episodes since 2019. However, we also know that the series is already renewed for seasons for four additional seasons, which will bring it to seven seasons in total, allowing the creators to tell their complete story.
