Grace and Frankie is the beloved iconic tale of two best friends who find solace and euphoria in their friendship after their husbands leave them for each other! Filmed in various parts of California, this American comedy series is a heartfelt story told lightheartedly and comedically.

Being Netflix’s longest running comedy series with a whopping total of 94 episodes, fans got to experience Grace and Frankie’s journey to a satisfying extent.

It’s the story of two elderly women who live life to the fullest even after heartbreak and betrayal. Through their retrospective separations from their lovers, they are given the opportunity to discover themselves, and live life being their authentic selves.

In itself, the show is almost like a reminder that despite the daunting burdens and overarching challenges we face in life, the pursuit of happiness is always achievable. It’s especially easier with the support of friendship.

But all good things must come to an end. After a long wait due to COVID-19, the final 12 episodes of Grace and Frankie’s seventh season arrived on Netflix on April 29, 2022. Fans are finally able to say their goodbyes to the jocular pair of best friends that have shined on the screen since early 2015.

Grace and Frankie filming location

Grace and Frankie was entirely shot in California. This show is known especially for the notorious, scintillating beach house where the pair of best friends reside. In the show, it is said to be located in La Jolla, San Diego.

However, the exterior shots were filmed on 31212 Broad Beach Road in Malibu, California. This beach house was graciously designed by Steve Gianneti and is estimated to be worth over $15 million today.

The stunning, lavishly adorned interior was actually filmed in Paramount Studios, 5555 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, Los Angeles, according to IMDb. The set was intended to replicate Gianneti’s interior design, as set decorator Beauchamp Fontaine likened his interior design to fit the aesthetic that was sought for Grace and Frankie.

"“It needed to be a place that could handle people tracking in sand from the beach and plopping down on furniture with wet swimwear. Therefore, a lot of slipcovered furniture and sisal rugs made sense.” – Grace and Frankie’s set decorator, Beauchamp Fontaine."
