What is The Pentaverate starring Mike Myers about?

This Thursday, Netflix is releasing new comedy limited series The Pentaverate from creator and comedian Mike Myers. Myers will portray eight different characters on the show, which consists of six episodes in total.

Those familiar with Myers’ work probably know him best for projects like Austin Powers, Wayne’s World and the Shrek franchise. He was also a staple on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live for many years. He’ll reunite with his Austin Powers collaborator Tim Kirkby for this project. Kirkby directed all six episodes of the half-hour comedy series.

Additionally, Myers will be joined by actors like Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Debi Mazar, Richard McCabe, Jennifer Saunders and Lydia West. Jeremy Irons narrates. Fans of Myers are particularly excited for this series since it marks a big return for the actor who hasn’t had a real, leading role in a live-action project since his critically-panned movie The Love Guru in 2008.

What is The Pentaverate starring Mike Myers about?

Fans of Myers’ 1993 romantic black comedy film So I Married an Axe Murderer will be delighted to know that The Pentaverate is actually a spin-off series from that movie. Debi Mazar also starred in the film alongside Mike Myers and both are returning for the show.

The story centers on a mysterious group of men who have been working together for centuries to influence global world events for the greater good. But when a Canadian journalist finds himself wrapped up in a mission to expose the truth about this shady organization, he might have to save the world, too.

Netflix synopsis:

"What if a secret society of five men has been working to influence world events for the greater good since the Black Plague of 1347? As this new series begins, one unlikely Canadian journalist finds himself embroiled in a mission to uncover the truth and just possibly save the world himself. Remember, the Pentaverate must never be exposed!"
