Rebelde season 2 release date rumors: Is the second season coming in summer 2022?

Fans are patiently waiting for Rebelde season 2 to make its way to Netflix, and the wait is just taking too long. Every month, we’re hoping to see a batch of new episodes dropped on the streamer, but we’ve been let down thus far. Luckily, we have some good news to share regarding the second installment. We might be seeing the release of Rebelde season 2 very soon.

Rebelde premiered on Netflix on Jan. 5, and it didn’t take long for subscribers to tune in and binge-watch the entire first season. Although the new Netflix original series received mixed reviews, most people enjoyed the sequel and were happy to see a fresh new take on the classic musical show.

After speeding through all eight episodes, viewers were left wanting more. Surprisingly, Netflix renewed the musical series for a second season just four days after the premiere. Then, rumors began circulating that Rebelde season 2 was filmed back-to-back with the first season. Maybe Netflix knew all along that they were going to give Rebelde a second season. This caused many of us to speculate about the Rebelde season 2 release date.

We knew the second season was confirmed to be coming in 2022, but we couldn’t figure out when exactly in 2022. Now, one of the show’s newest cast members might have just given us a more specific timeframe.

Is Rebelde season 2 coming in summer 2022?

Possibly! When Netflix announced the season 2 renewal, the streamer also announced a new cast addition for season 2. They announced that musical artist Saak would be joining the cast as Okane. Since then, the cast and the Rebelde official Instagram page have been sharing behind-the-scenes photos from season 2 to get fans pumped up for the upcoming second season.

On April 28, Saak posted a production still from season 2 of his character (Okane) and Franco Masini’s character (Luka), seemingly in a heated discussion. While we were excited to see a photo from the new season, we were more excited about what the caption said. The caption read, “Ya casi… @soyrebeldenetflix 2a Temporada llega en Verano 2022.” The English translation is “Almost there… @soyrebeldenetflix 2nd Season arrives in Summer 2022.”

The Rebelde official Instagram page even liked the photo, so could this mean that Rebelde season 2 is really coming in the summer? If so, we’re probably looking at a late summer release. Netflix doesn’t typically release two seasons of its series in one year. Usually, we only see one season of a Netflix original dropped per year. However, there are some cases where this does happen, and it’s obviously happening with Rebelde. Still, we think the streamer will likely space the seasons out as much as they can.

If season 2 is released in the summer, it could be released anywhere between June and September. We could see Netflix releasing season 2 in August or September. This would put a seven or eight month gap between seasons 1 and 2. However, Rebelde season 2 could come in June or July, but we’re leaning more towards a late summer release.
