Get ready to jump for joy, Ginny and Georgia fans! Principal photography on Ginny and Georgia season 2 has officially wrapped, which means we’re another step closer to seeing one of our favorite mother-daughter duos back on our screens.

Ginny and Georgia premiered on Netflix in February 2021, and it did pretty well for a new original series. This isn’t surprising because the show is just so funny, relatable, and refreshing. There was a lot of thoughtfulness in the way the show handled serious topics like racism and sexuality, which was very much appreciated.

The casting was perfect, the characters have a lot of charm, the character development was amazing, and there was plenty of drama to keep viewers thoroughly entertained. Like every show, Ginny and Georgia have its faults, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed.

Fortunately, fans didn’t have to wait long for a renewal announcement. Almost two months after the first season premiered, Netflix gave the green light for an additional season. The streamer released a video of the cast announcing Ginny and Georgia season 2 in April 2021.

We were hoping production on the second season would start soon after the renewal announcement, but that wasn’t the case. Production didn’t begin until November. At the time, filming was rumored to wrap on April 8, 2022. It looks like there was some truth to this rumor because filming did finish up in April.

Ginny and Georgia season 2 wraps filming

On April 22, Antonia Gentry (Ginny) posted a collage of photos on her Instagram page of her outside her trailer. The caption reads, “c ya #ginnyandgeorgia.” There were two peace sign emojis included in the caption. Even though Gentry didn’t come right out and say filming wrapped, it’s blatantly obvious.

After looking at some of the comments under the post, we were able to get confirmation that production was finished. Showrunner Debra Fisher left a comment saying, “Been a wild season 2.” The caption also included a peace sign emoji, a peach emoji, and an orange heart emoji. Co-star Humberly González (Sophie) also commented, “yayyy happy wrap!”

Jennifer Robertson, who plays Ellen Baker in the series, made an Instagram post commemorating Ginny and Georgia season 2 wrapping as well. The caption on the post reads, “That’s a wrap for Ellen Baker on S2 @gngbts Love this cast and crew so much.”

Ginny and Georgia season 2 release updates

We’re still waiting on an official release date. Since the show just entered post-production, we most likely won’t hear of one until later in the process. However, the good news is that everything is on track, so the chances of Ginny and Georgia season 2 coming to Netflix in 2022 is very high.

If you’ve been following our monthly Ginny and Georgia season 2 release updates posts, you’d know that our best release date prediction is fall 2022. We’ve also previously mentioned that August is the earliest we think we could see the second season. We don’t foresee the show spending more than six months in post-production. So the latest we think the second season could arrive on the streamer is October.

You can count on us to share the official release date as soon as Netflix announces it. Stay tuned to Netflix Life for more news and coverage on Ginny and Georgia season 2!
