When is Dragon’s Dogma season 2 coming out on Netflix?

A Netflix original dark-fantasy anime series, Dragon’s Dogma had a rather grim and mystical first season. The series was not a manga adaptation, like most other anime, but was instead based on a game going by the same name.

What is Dragon’s Dogma about?

Dragon’s Dogma is an anime series that is based on a game released by Japanese gaming company Capcom in 2012. As its name suggests, the series is about the adventurous events that take place after the birth of a legendary dragon.

The story of the anime series somewhat parallels the game, wherein Ethan embarks on a journey to capture and slay the dragon that was responsible for destroying his home. On this journey, he is joined by a pawn that appears out of nowhere to serve and protect him from all evil. However, the dangers for Ethan are way more than he can imagine, because in the quest to seek revenge and slay a monster, what if he too ends up becoming one like them?

How many seasons of Dragon’s Dogma are there?

So far, there’s just one season of Dragon’s Dogma that’s been released on Netflix. The show hasn’t been announced for renewal yet. However, going by how successful and loved the first season was, it can be safe to assume that Netflix might just choose to bring it in for another season. We’ll just have to wait it out for this one!

The possible reason Netflix is delaying the renewal status of Dragon’s Dogma could be because of the absence of a continuous manga. Since the anime is the adaptation of a game, the possibility of a second season becomes a little difficult. However, there’s no reason to lose hope because as far as reports are to go by, the show hasn’t received notice of cancellation yet. So, we’d say keep your fingers crossed on this one.

What to expect in Dragon’s Dogma season 2?

If there is a season 2 of Dragon’s Dogma, it will be a continuation of where the series left off in season 1. While many fans were left hanging and dissatisfied with the penultimate episode of season 1, we are shown Ethan the Arisen successfully achieving revenge against Dragon, at the cost of sealing his own fate. However, unknown to Ethan, killing the Dragon with a motive for revenge, he is destined to become the next dragon and a never-ending cycle continues.

Ethan begs to be slain before his transformation, but Hannah as his protector refuses to do so. However, Hannah agrees to carry out his other request of protecting mankind from the destruction his dragon self will eventually bring.

What remains unclear to the audience is how long Ethan has before he gets transformed into his Dragon instincts, even though it is clearly shown that he has a small semblance of humanity still left in him, in the final episode.

Thus, if there is a second season, a couple of assumptions we can surely make is regarding the vicious cycle that rises between Arisen and Dragons and if Ethan has to die, he will have to leave a new Arisen who will be worthy of killing a dragon. So, in order to break the never-ending cycle, the Arisen who is chosen worthy by Ethan must not fall into the same trap as him and must slay the Dragon without a motive for revenge or pride.

Armed with this knowledge of this curse, Hannah has to find the next Arisen and help him against falling into the trap of slaying Ethan with a motive of pride or revenge. If the chosen Arisen is able to overcome these desires and slay the Dragon, the curse will forever be broken and no further dragons will arise. So, if season 2 does come through, there’s definitely a lot left in store to watch out for!
