Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya and Top Boy star Kane Robinson have collaborated on a new dystopian drama titled The Kitchen at Netflix!

This time around, Kaluuya is behind the scenes as the co-director, co-writer, and producer. He co-wrote the script with Joe Murtagh and Rob Hayes. In addition, Kaluuya produced the film under his 59% Productions banner, with Daniel Emmerson producing for DMC Film.

Kibwe Tavares makes his feature film directing debut with The Kitchen. Tavares has worked with Kaluuya before on his short film Jonah in which Kaluuya plays the main lead. In addition, Michael Fassbender, David Kimbangi, Conor McCaughan, and Ollie Madden serve as executive producers on the project.

The upcoming Netflix movie is based on an original idea from Kaluuya, Tavares, and Emmerson. It was developed through the Sundance Screenwriting and Directing Lab in 2016, and now we have the official release date, trailer, and much more.

According to Deadline, British rapper and actor Kane Robinson joins the cast as the main lead, and newcomer Jedaiah Bannerman portrays the co-lead. What is The Kitchen on Netflix about?

The dystopian drama is set in London in the year 2044, a future where there’s a huge gap between the rich and the poor. Due to harsh conditions, the poor are forced to live in temporary lodgings on the outskirts of the city called The Kitchen. The story follows Izi, a resident of The Kitchen who’s trying to find his way out, and a 12-year-old boy named Benji who has lost his mother and longs for a family.

It's been given an R maturity rating for strong language, which means it may be inappropriate for ages under 17. So, we recommend watching this film when there are no young kids around. Maybe wait until they're asleep or when they're busy watching a kids movie or show. That way, you won't be disturbed.
