What is The Kitchen on Netflix about?

The dystopian drama is set in London in the year 2044, a future where there’s a huge gap between the rich and the poor. Due to harsh conditions, the poor are forced to live in temporary lodgings on the outskirts of the city called The Kitchen. The story follows Izi, a resident of The Kitchen who’s trying to find his way out, and a 12-year-old boy named Benji who has lost his mother and longs for a family.

It's been given an R maturity rating for strong language, which means it may be inappropriate for ages under 17. So, we recommend watching this film when there are no young kids around. Maybe wait until they're asleep or when they're busy watching a kids movie or show. That way, you won't be disturbed.

The Kitchen release date

Make sure to clear your schedule for Friday, Jan. 19, 2024 because that's when The Kitchen is scheduled to land on Netflix! You can expect the movie to drop at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on this date.

As shown below, the dystopian drama was initially expected to come out in 2023, but its release got pushed to next year. We've seen this happen with other films like Kevin Hart's Lift. But it's unclear why the release year was changed in The Kitchen's case. What we do know is that this film will be one of the best new Netflix releases in January 2024.
