Did The Power of the Dog win any Oscars?

The Power of the Dog is the most-nominated Netflix film out of the bunch, with nominations in almost every main acting category and several technical categories. At the 94th Academy Awards, The Power of the Dog rose to the top of the pack as the film to beat.

Apart from being nominated for Best Picture, the film also received nods for Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Sound, Best Production Design and two nods for Best Supporting Actor.

The film already picked up several wards before the Academy Awards, including a few Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, BAFTAs and more. Needless to say, the competition is stiff at this year’s award show and Netflix has proven to be at the top of its game with 27 nominations (more than any other studio).

Did The Power of the Dog win any Oscars?

Despite being nominated for 12 awards, The Power of the Dog only walked away with a single win last night. Jane Campion won for Best Director.

The Power of the Dog started off the night with a loss to Dune for Best Sound, Benedict Cumberbatch lost Best Actor to Will Smith, Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smith-McPhee lost Best Supporting Actor to Troy Kotsur, Kirsten Dunst lost to Ariana DeBose and Best Adapted Screenplay went to CODA.

Additionally, Dune snagged the awards for Best Original Score, Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography and Best Film Editing.

On the plus side, Campion’s win for Best Director is still a big deal, as so few women are even nominated for Best Director and her win marks the first time women have won the prestigious award two years in a row, with Chloé Zhao winning for Nomadland last year.
