Did Don’t Look Up win any Oscars?

Netflix is up for quite a few Oscars this year leading the network/streaming services with 27 nominations. Part of that number is the four Don’t Look Up has received. The comedy about climate change received nominations for Writing for an Original Screenplay, Original Score, Film Editing, and Best Picture.

It’s definitely interesting that the film received no nominations for directing or acting especially considering how packed with amazing actors this movie is. And Adam McKay isn’t exactly the worst director in the world either.

Meryl Streep may have had a small role in the film, but let’s be honest, she’s been nominated for less so not seeing a nomination for her is a little bit shocking.

As for Leonardo DiCaprio, the Academy has never been a huge fan of his. He’s got a ton of nominations but only one win for The Revenant in 2016.

Don’t Look Up was nominated for four Oscars

It is a little shocking Jennifer Lawrence didn’t at least get a nomination as the Academy has loved her in the past. Although, she hasn’t won an Oscar since 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook.

But these lack of directing and acting nominations make sense if you look at the movie we’re talking about. It may have had a good message, but the acting was less-than-great and that can be attributed to the frustrating writing. How this movie is nominated for a writing award is baffling.

But what did it actually win at this year’s Oscars? Did the Academy actually think it deserved to be awarded for its “greatness?”

They apparently did not as Don’t Look Up didn’t win any of the four Oscars it was up for at this year’s award ceremony.

Netflix didn’t do much better either. Of the big awards the streaming service was up for, they only won Best Director for The Power of the Dog.
