Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story trailer, synopsis, release date and more

Once considered a beloved icon and television personality, Jimmy Savile seemed to be the pinnacle of British media with notoriety in multiple mediums. But not long after his death in 2011, the truth about Savile came to light, revealing that he was not only a suspected sexual predator but possibly one of Britain’s most prolific. In a new documentary series, Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story, Netflix will look back at how this man fooled so many for so long.

The actual series will be rated TV-MA for sexual violence references, child abuse references, language and smoking. Aimed toward mature audiences, parents should tread with caution if considering showing it to children under 17.

A man renowned and revered for his eccentricity and philanthropy, it shocked the nation when the truth came out and a shocking number of allegations, more than 450, prompted an investigation. This was a man who was knighted by the queen and esteemed by thousands, it was a huge wake-up call and prompted questions as to who helped Savile commit these atrocities over the course of four decades.

The docuseries will be released on Netflix April 6, 2022. It’s not yet clear how many episodes it will contain.

Per Netflix, here is the official synopsis for the upcoming series:

"Jimmy Savile was one of the United Kingdom’s most beloved TV personalities. Shortly after his death in 2011, an investigation prompted more than 450 horrific allegations of sexual assault and abuse, with victims as young as 5. The documentary examines, through extensive archive footage, the evil within Jimmy and delves into how he managed to fool an entire nation for four decades."
