The Principles of Pleasure is an upcoming Netflix documentary series centering female sexuality and explores things like the “orgasm gap.” All three episodes will debut on Netflix Tuesday, March 22.
Comedian Michelle Buteau will take viewers on a journey to help viewers learn more about a topic that doesn’t get enough attention from mainstream media: women’s pleasure. It’s a little bit like Netflix’s other docuseries, The GOOP Lab, albeit with a more targeted and educational approach.
Throughout the first season, viewers will get to listen to scientists, sex therapists and regular, everyday women to learn more about female sexuality and the stigmas faced by our society.

The Principles of Pleasure synopsis
“Talking about pleasure can feel awkward, but honestly, it shouldn’t.” That’s one of the opening quotes from the above trailer. The docuseries will explore how women strive for more complex dialogue surrounding female pleasure and sexuality.
Why are so many young girls told to stay quiet about things like sex and masturbation? What if you were allowed to talk about what makes you feel good and how you enjoy expressing yourself physically? “How would the rest of your life be different?”
When you watch the trailer, you’ll see many women mention how they’d like to learn how to feel less shame and even understand how their own body works. It’s essential that we have the chance to approach these topics in a judgment-free environment and feel empowered to embrace these conversations.
Here is the Netflix logline:
"Sex, joy and modern science converge in this eye-opening series that celebrates the complex world of women’s pleasure — and puts old-fashioned myths to rest."

The Principles of Pleasure episode count
There are three episodes in total, and they will all be available simultaneously. We don’t have an exact runtime for each installment, but I would estimate that they run approximately 45 to 60 minutes apiece.
