The Baby-Sitters Club season 2 landed on Netflix with fresh life lessons for the sitters and the show’s fans to learn from as the girls experienced some eighth grade level challenges.

From romance to grief, the latest season ran the gamut of emotional upheaval whilst still retaining the heartfelt and feel good energy that’s made it one of the best kids show streaming right now.

However, this sophomore season didn’t end on a note that suggested we won’t be following the BSC further into the school year or perhaps even into high school.

Can we expect a third season for the Netflix original series? Here’s what we know!

Has The Baby-Sitters Club been canceled?

Unfortunately, the tween series has been canceled by Netflix. The news was announced Friday, March 11. According to Deadline, the decision likely came down to The Baby-Sitters Club‘s performance on the streamer.

"While developing a fan following, the series have not been able to attract a wide audience; the eight-episode Season 2, released on October 11, failed to crack Nielsen’s Top 10 weekly streaming rankings and only appeared in the Netflix Top 10 for one week at #9."

The show, however, had been one of the best reviewed television series with both seasons scoring a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes so this cancellation will come as a surprise to fans. Netflix has repeatedly touted its platform as being a one stop shop for all ages, but it’s tween series don’t seem to be surviving the axe.

The Baby-Sitters Club is the third popular and successful series marketed toward tweens and younger teens that’s been canceled by Netflix. The first was Anne with an E in 2019. The show’s fans campaigned hard for the cancellation to be reversed. The same can be said for fans of Julie and the Phantoms which had been held in limbo for over a year before its cancellation was announced in 2021.

We’ll see in the coming days whether or not The BSC’s fan base will rise up to have their voices heard across the web in the wake of this news. Stay tuned to Netflix Life!
