Lily James has been making headlines with the portrayal of Pamela Anderson in the series Pam & Tommy that is streaming on Hulu. James is a dead ringer for Anderson in the series, and this role is something fans haven’t seen from the actress before. But what movies and shows does Netflix feature starring Lily James?

In 2015, James got her film breakthrough role as she portrayed the titular character in the live-action film Cinderella. The reimagining of the original animated film was directed by Kenneth Branagh and was praised by critics and audiences alike. Cinderella has been Branagh’s highest-grossing film as a director. James’ portrayal of “Ella” was everything you could hope it would be. Her beauty and sweetness showed through, as did her skill as a talented actress.

She would go on to star in many great features, including Pride and Prejudice Zombies, Baby Driver, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Yesterday, and will next star in the film What’s Love Got to Do With It?

Rebecca (2020)

James stars alongside Armie Hammer in the gothic mystery Rebecca available on Netflix. Based on Daphne du Maurier’s novel, director Ben Wheatley wanted to closely follow for his film. The 1940 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock also adapted the book and won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Hammer plays Maxim de Winter, a wealthy widower who befriends James’ character, and the pair fall in love. She becomes the next Mrs. de Winter and moves to the breathtaking estate of Manderley. As the new mistress of the house learns more about the previous mistress, Rebecca, things take a turn, and many are shocked by all that is revealed.

Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society (2018)

Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society is a Netflix original film set on the Island of Guernsey in 1946, after the German occupation. The film is based on a novel by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.

It’s a beautiful story about an English journalist, Juliet Aston (James), who travels to Guernsey after corresponding with a member of the literary club known as Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society. This society was established when four people traveled after curfew and made it up to avoid being arrested. Their story so struck Aston she decided to write about the society and the people involved.

The Dig (2021)

The Netflix original film The Dig, set in 1939 Suffolk, is a British drama directed by Simon Stone based on a same-titled novel by John Preston. James stars with Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes, Johnny Flynn, Ben Chaplin, Ken Stott, Archie Barnes, and Monica Dolan in this film, based on a true story.

On the eve of World War II, wealthy widow Edith Pretty (Mulligan) hires self-taught archaeologist-excavator, Basil Brown (Fiennes), to investigate mysterious mounds on her estate. Brown and his crew discover something of historical significance. James plays Peggy Piggott, one of the archaeologists who assists with the dig.

The Dig received positive critical reviews and was nominated for five British Academy Film Awards.

Downton Abbey (2010-2015)

Downton Abbey is a series created by Julian Fellowes that follows the aristocratic Crawley family and their lives, as well as that of their domestic servants, who live at Downton Abbey, a fictional Yorkshire estate.

The series highlights many vital events in history during 1912-1926, including the sinking of the Titanic, WWI, the Spanish Influenza pandemic, and the decline of the British aristocracy.

James joined the series in season 3 as Lady Rose MacClaire, a second cousin sent to live with the Crawleys as her parents serve in India. The series consists of six seasons and a movie, with a second coming in 2022.

Darkest Hour (2017)

The movie Darkest Hour was directed by Joe Wright and written by Anthony McCarten that accounts the early days of Winston Churchill’s role as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

The film stars Gary Oldman as Churchill, Kristin Scott Thomas as Clementine Churchill, Lily James as Elizabeth Layton, Stephen Dillane as Viscount Halifax, Ronald Pickup as Neville Chamberlain, and Ben Mendelsohn as King George VI.

Darkest Hour gets its name from a phrase attributed to Churchill as used to describe the early days of WWI.
