A Netflix price increase is happening again, this time in the United Kingdom and Ireland, per Deadline. We have all the details on the new subscription pricing. This decision comes on the heels of a recent price increase in the United States. Netflix assures that the price hike will not affect subscriber access to the content library, so there are no hidden fees or additional costs needed to watch anything and everything Netflix offers.

In a statement, Netflix said that the increase would allow them to “continue investing in best in class UK productions and offer a wide variety of curated quality shows and films.”

Outside of the US and Canada, the UK is Netflix’s largest production hub, so it’s not too surprising that the subscription prices are increasing. Some of the most popular shows on the service are British or Irish content, such as Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, The Power of the Dog and The Crown.

Netflix price increase in the UK

In the UK, the price on the standard plan will increase by £1 to £10.99, or $1.31 to $14.46. For the lowest level of service (the basic package), the price changed from £1 ($1.31) to £6.99 ($9.19). This change marks the first time the UK’s basic package price has increased in 10 years.

If you’re in the UK and subscribe to the premium tier, your price will go up by £2 ($2.63).

Netflix price increase in Ireland

In Ireland, the pricing increases by €2 to €14.99, or $2.20 to $16.54. The price increased from €1 ($1.10) to €8.99 ($9.92) for the basic package. This increase is the first time Netflix’s basic package has gone up in eight years in Ireland.

As for the premium service, Ireland subscribers will now pay €2 ($2.20) more.

When does the Netflix price increase go into effect?

New members will see the price change go into effect immediately. In contrast, existing members should receive a notification from Netflix about the change at least 30 days before it goes into effect.
