Once Upon a Time (Happily Never After) is an upcoming Spanish fantasy romance series coming to Netflix this Friday. If you enjoyed Schmigadoon! on Apple TV+, then this musical show should be right up your alley as the two share some similar themes.

Thus far, Once Upon a Time (Happily Never After) has mostly flown under the radar, but Netflix did release an official trailer, and it stars singer and all-around heartthrob Sebastián Yatra in one of the leading roles.

Netflix has had great success with its foreign shows and musical series, and movies like Vivo and Rebelde. Add in the fantasy element, and this new series looks to be something special. It’s colorful, vibrant, sexy, romantic, and the trailer makes it seem hilarious, too. If you’re looking for some lighthearted fun and maybe something a little steamy, then this should be an excellent choice for you going into the weekend.

What is Netflix’s Once Upon a Time … Happily Never After about?

Once Upon a Time (Happily Never After) (also known as Érase una vez…Pero ya no) is about two lovers who must contend with their “happily ever after.” What happens after a fairytale ends? Is it really as appealing as the stories make it sound?

Like Schmigadoon! the story takes place in an eccentric town under a spell where no one can fall in love. In this story, two lovers who were separated must find each other to break the spell, but the arrival of two tourists might ruin their chances of breaking the enchantment.

Here is the official synopsis for the Netflix series:

"A couple forced to separate must find each other in another life to break a spell on their town, where no one can fall in love."

Once Upon a Time (Happily Never After) will release on Netflix on March 11.
