Move over Pam & Tommy, Pamela Anderson is finally going to “set the record straight” about her story with a new documentary slated for release on Netflix. The news came today straight from Netflix. You can check out the official tweet from the Netflix account below.

The streamer states that they have been working with Anderson for several years now to create this documentary which will look back on the pop culture icon’s professional path and her personal journey.

The tweet also includes a handwritten note from Anderson that says, “My life, a thousand imperfections, a million misperceptions, wicked, wild, and lost, nothing to live up to, I can only surprise you – not a victim, but a survivor & alive to tell real story.”

Pamela Anderson has been public about refusing to watch Pam & Tommy

Anderson has been in the news quite a bit recently because of the new Hulu series Pam & Tommy starring Lily James and Sebastian Stan as Anderson and Tommy Lee (Anderson’s ex-husband), respectively. While both stars have been vocal about how the show takes a sympathetic light to Anderson’s story, it was made without her approval.

According to an exclusive from Entertainment Weekly, the 54-year-old said she would “never” watch the show, not even the trailer, and not even years from now. To the show’s credit, they have provided far more emotional nuance and maturity to the story amid all the horrible sexism and backlash Anderson received over the years. Still, it’s hard not to take issue with the creators for making the show in the first place without Anderson’s consent.

Either way, it’s exciting to see that she will finally get a chance to tell her story in her own way in this upcoming documentary.

Pamela Anderson documentary release date

Considering Netflix just announced the news, we don’t have much information to offer just yet beyond the initial tweet. Since the documentary has been in the works for several years, I’m assuming the timing in relation to Pam & Tommy is not a coincidence.

I would imagine Anderson and the team behind it will want to release the film sooner rather than later while the story is still fresh in everyone’s minds, and people can compare the real story as told by Anderson to the fictionalized Hulu series.
