Where was Inventing Anna filmed?

Inventing Anna, Shonda Rhimes’ latest drama, dropped on Netflix Friday, Feb. 11. The nine episode series takes viewers into the life of Anna Delvey (Julia Gardner), a German heiress who sits in the lap of luxury and is defined by her decadence. She’s also a scammer who’s playing her socialite friends for fools as she charms her way into high society.

The Netflix original series shifts back and forth between the present and the past as journalist Vivian Kent (Anna Chlumsky) delves into Anna’s story. The woman is intriguing to Vivian and the means of revitalizing her flagging career.

How does one supposed heiress nearly get away with taking New York’s elite for everything they’ve got? How is it possible that Anna managed to infiltrate their circles with no one the wiser? Those are just two of the questions on Vivian’s mind and others who’ve heard about the scammer.

Anna jet-setted around the world on other people’s dime and the series lets the audience in on some of the locales she visited. Here’s where filming took place for Inventing Anna.

The majority of the series was shot in New York as that was home base for Anna as she shmoozed and socialized in the city that never sleeps. Independent reports that The Church Missions, the building where Anna wants to house The Anna Delvey Foundation, is located at 281 Park Avenue South at 22nd Street and is the home of the museum Fotografiska New York.

Yes, that’s actually the Chateau Marmont on Sunset Boulevard that she stays in when she visits Los Angeles while the scenes in Miami were shot at Passages treatment center in Malibu, California. No TV magic was worked, however, when Anna took a trip to Marrakesh, Morocco. The hotel she stays in is real-life hotel La Mamounia on Avenue Bab Jdid.
