Since its inception, Netflix has given audiences countless incredible movies to enjoy including many which have gone on to compete for the top honors at some of the biggest awards shows of the season. In fact, just last year Netflix took home an impressive seven Oscars for its hit films including Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Mank.

Netflix has an eye for hits, but even the most successful studios can’t hit a home run with every release.

2021 was filled with some truly incredible original movies, but it was also the year that introduced us to arguably one of the worst movies to ever hit the streaming service.

As Netflix Life celebrates “The Besties” this week — an awards show where we highlight the best, the worst and the craziest moments from Netflix in the past year — it’s time to look at one of the worst movies the year had to offer: He’s All That.

Is He’s All That Netflix’s worst movie ever?

Look, I get it that romantic comedies are known for their cliches and often get a bad rap because of their often predictable nature.

Usually, I’m the first person to step in to defend these types of films because I personally love a good rom-com and the escapism they provide. However, when watching He’s All That the only thing I found was myself wanting to escape the atrocity unfolding in front of my eyes.

This movie had more plot holes than a piece of Swiss cheese and at times read more like an extended commercial for not so subtly plugged brands than a legitimate attempt at remaking a beloved classic. Not only was the film’s writing awful, but so were the performances from the cast particularly its leads who lacked chemistry from the start and failed to bring any redeeming qualities to their already unlikeable characters.

He’s All That in theory could have been a fun and enjoyable modern spin on the beloved film that inspired it. Instead, it has rightfully earned the title as one of the worst Netflix movies of all time and there is absolutely no reason it shouldn’t take the crown as the worst movie of 2021 at the upcoming Razzie Awards.

The Razzies have a long-standing history of honoring the worst of cinematic under-achievements and there is no film from 2021 that’s more deserving of being recognized as one of the worst cinematic moments than He’s All That.

This movie was super painful to watch and the only thing that would make losing nearly two hours to Addison Rae’s acting debut — if we want to call it that — would be the film earning a Razzie Award (or several) at this year’s event.

He’s All That is streaming now on Netflix but do yourself a favor and save yourself the pain of suffering through it.
