There are so many people killed in Ozark season 4 part 1, which was just released on Netflix on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022.

There are two deaths, however, that hit a little differently than others. They aren’t exactly unexpected. Honestly, it would not be surprising if any character was killed given the high-stakes nature of the show.

Spoilers ahead for Ozark season 4.

Who kills Wyatt and Darlene?

Darlene and Wyatt are killed at the end of Ozark season 4 part 1, and it is quite shocking given the deal that Ruth worked out with Frank Cosgrove Jr.

After everything Darlene has done, there are numerous people who would love to see her dead. Obviously, the Byrdes and the Navarro cartel would love if Darlene was completely out of the picture given what she’s done so far and the headaches she has caused their business.

The Byrdes, especially, want Darlene dead after everything she’s done to their family.

And, we know that Kansas City Mob and Frank Cosgrove are equally tired of Darlene’s antics and what she did to Frank Jr.

Any three of those main parties would love for Darlene to be dead.

It’s Javi and the Navarro cartel who make the big move and kill Darlene and Wyatt.

Why are Darlene and Wyatt killed?

I mean, it’s pretty obvious why Darlene and Wyatt were killed, right? How many times does Darlene need to be told that the cartel is serious about controlling the heroin coming through the Ozarks.

Javi even told Marty to handle Darlene during the season, but Marty ignored him. All of that led to Javi killing Darlene and Wyatt.

Although Javi didn’t have the same motive, necessarily, for killing Darlene as the KC Mafia, it makes sense that the cartel wants control over the region. Javi has big plans, and Darlene complicates those plans. He’s also very vengeful and wants ultimate control. I think he feels like they wronged him, which means they had to go.

Yikes. It’s not looking good for the Byrdes in the rest of Ozark season 4.
