Netflix is adding 13 new movies and shows this week

A new week is here and that means Netflix is adding new movies and shows to its lineup. Once again, this week isn’t stacked with a ton of new content but there are definitely a few things you’ll want to check out.

This week brings a new thriller adapted from a book, a new season of a Netflix Original, and a new series based on a Japanese movie.

One of the week’s biggest new movies is Brazen starring Alyssa Milano and Sam Page. The movie, which hits Netflix on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, is an adaptation of Nora Roberts’s book, Brazen Virtue. The book is the second in Roberts’s D.C. Detectives series.

The movie follows Grace Miller, a popular mystery writer, as she tries to discover who killed her sister. She’s going to need to use everything she’s learned from writing her novels to try and find the murderer.

This week also brings The Journalist, a new series based on the popular Japanese film of the same name. The series follows a journalist, Anna Matsuda, who is determined to get the truth when she discovers a government cover-up. Where others are willing to leave the powerful alone, she will do anything to make sure they are held accountable.

Michihito Fujii, the director of the original film, is also directing the series.

The third and final season of After Life is coming to Netflix on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022. The Ricky Gervais show follows Tony Johnson, a man who has just lost his wife. After her death, his personality changes dramatically. He becomes impulsive and reckless.

At the end of season 2, Tony’s father passed away and season 3 will likely start with his funeral as well as showing how Tony deals with his loss. Season 3 will also cover the events at the local newspaper.
