Stay Close season 2 release date updates, renewal, and more

Stay Close is one of the biggest shows on Netflix right now. The Netflix original series premiered on Jan. 31, 2021 (New Year’s Eve!), and fans are binge-watching the new mystery based on the book of the same name by Harlan Coben very quickly.

After fans finish the series, the first question they have is about what’s next and if Stay Close season 2 is going to happen.

There are eight episodes in the first season of the series.

Will there be a Stay Close season 2?

Stay Close has not been renewed for season 2, and it’s rather unlikely to be renewed for a new season. The Netflix shows adapted from Coben’s works have always been limited series. We’re not expecting Stay Close to be any different, unfortunately.

There is some story left to tell after the first season, but the story is basically contained. There’s a clear beginning and end. Usually, when that happens, Netflix doesn’t renew the series for a new season, even if the show is super popular, even as popular as Stay Close. 

What could happen in Stay Close season 2?

Although the story was basically wrapped up in the first season, there’s still more story to tell. There are characters still alive, and there’s one part of the mystery that has never been solved, but it will be soon.

Of course, I’m referring to the final scene with Megan and Dave at their wedding reception.

Dave tells Megan that he dumped Carlton Flynn’s car because he knew that Kayleigh had stolen it. He pushed it into the river.

Dave doesn’t know that Kayleigh had trapped Carlton in the trunk. He was still in there when Dave pushed the car into the river.

So, Megan knows that Carlton Flynn is dead in the trunk, and it’s likely that will be discovered at some point. What will happen when Dave sees it on the news and realizes what he did?
