Queer Eye is one of our favorite Netflix Original shows, and the most recent installment was fantastic. Season 6 was full of nothing but wholesome moments, great life lessons, and our Fab Five doing the do-si-do in good ol’ Texas. But now that it’s been over a year since it came out, all eyes are on the reality show. Everyone wants to know when Queer Eye season 7 will be released.

With a feel-good show like this one, it’s not a surprise that fans want more new seasons. We tell you everything we know so far about Queer Eye season 7 below so that you are all up to date with the future of this amazing series.

How many seasons of Queer Eye are there?

As of today, there are seven official seasons of Queer Eye on Netflix. Six of those seasons belong to the original series that we fell in love with back in 2018 while the remaining one season belongs to the just-as-special spin-off of the series titled Queer Eye: We’re In Japan!

The first four seasons of the series each have a total of eight episodes, followed by the remaining seasons 5 and 6, which each have 10 episodes. We’re In Japan! has four episodes, but no matter the season, each episode is under an hour in duration.

Queer Eye season 7 is officially in the works

In May 2022, it was confirmed that Queer Eye season 7 is happening. Netflix took to Twitter to share a fun video of the Fab Five traveling across the country to announce the seventh season was in the works and they were casting for people looking for make-betters to join the cast. As expected, fans were thrilled to hear to renewal news.

Queer Eye season 7 cast

You can bet that your favorite Fab Five — Bobby Berk, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness, and Antoni Porowski — will return once more to not just deliver hilarious one-liners but, of course, give people all over the world fabulous makeovers in season 7.

Queer Eye season 7 location

Each season brings us not only new nominees but also new locations for us to fall in love with. As confirmed by Netflix, season 7 will see the Fab Five traveling to New Orleans, Louisiana! And while we can expect some bright colors and warm weather, we can also expect emotional moments and tears. Tan spoke with E! News in Nov. 2022 and revealed this was the “hardest” season he’s filmed, saying these upcoming episodes made him cry the hardest he ever has on the show.

But why all the tears? Well, because Queer Eye season 7 takes place in New Orleans, the devastating Hurricane Katrina plays a part.

"“I didn’t live in America when Katrina happened,” Tan said. “Seeing the devastation, seeing what it did to families, seeing how much poverty it created, that’s what got me. Some of our heroes have just never been able to recover. And so that’s why the transformations were so special, because it’s as if many of them have stood still in time.”"

Queer Eye season 7 filming

Filming for the seventh season began in New Orleans in June 2022, with the official Queer Eye Twitter account sharing two adorable photos of the Fab Five and writing: “The Fab 5 just arrived in The Big Easy and are already dripping in Mardi Gras beads.” About two months later, Antoni shared a photo of himself, Tan, and Jonathan on Instagram, signaling that the crew was likely still filming at that time.

All six seasons of Queer Eye are now streaming on Netflix!
