5 must-watch Netflix movies and shows coming this week

This list is in release date order. That will help you keep track of the releases better, and also avoids us trying to compare genres.

Death to 2021

We start the list with a comedy series. Death to 2021 is a followup to Death to 2020. The first special was set in a time of COVID, following some of the many feelings we all had, albeit in an exaggerated way.

Death to 2021 takes a look back at how people coped with the pandemic this year. While some restrictions were eased, others were brought back. It’s another over-the-top and hilarious special.

Watch the episode on Monday, Dec. 27.

The Door into Summer

For those looking for a foreign-language sci-fi movie, The Door into Summer is the one movie to watch.

The Japanese movie follows a roboticist awakening in 2025. He’s been in cryposleep the whole time, but he wasn’t ready for this to happen. He needs to get back to 1995 somehow, but how will he do that and what does he think of the technology of his future.

Watch the movie on Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Anxious People

For those who like limited series, there are a few options on Netflix this week. The first of the Netflix and shows is called Anxious People.

It follows a bank robber who takes people hostage and then just disappears. When the police can’t find him, they immediately become suspicious of everyone around. Was one of the hostages involved?

Watch the limited series on Wednesday, Dec. 29.

Cobra Kai

One of the biggest releases of 2021 is Cobra Kai. Season 3 dropped on New Year’s Day, and now we get Season 4 on New Year’s Eve, and we can’t wait!

The fourth season picks up off the back of the deal made in Season 3. Now, Johnny and Daniel will need to work together if they want to take Kreese down. It’s not going to be easy when Terry Silver shows up.

Watch the whole fourth season on Friday, Dec. 31.

Stay Close

Harlan Coben thrillers are among the most popular adaptations on Netflix. Stay Close is the latest one dropping. This one stars Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt, and Cush Jumbo.

It follows the lives of a photojournalist, a homicide detective, and a soccer mom. All seem to have completely different lives, but they’re all disturbed by one event that connects them in their pasts.

Check out the entire season on Friday, Dec. 31.
