How many The Christmas Chronicles movies are there on Netflix?

Christmas is exactly one week away, meaning many Netflix fans might be now scrambling to get into the holiday spirit. Luckily, the streamer has a bunch of good Christmas movies to make you feel all magical inside, and their lineup wouldn’t be complete without The Christmas Chronicles franchise.

Currently, there are two movies inThe Christmas Chronicles saga. The first movie was released on Netflix all the way back in November 2018 and saw brother-sister duo, Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis) go on a wild Christmas adventure when their plan to catch “Santa” (Kurt Russel) in action, takes an unexpected turn.

The Christmas Chronicles 2 was released almost two years to the date of the first, in November 2020, and was definitely a highlight for most during the pandemic-riddled holiday season. The second movie saw the majority of the original cast return for the sequel, with a new “naughty” addition to the cast in the form of an elf called Belsnickel (Julian Dennison) who’s set on spoiling Christmas for everyone.

Both movies are currently available to stream on Netflix and are the perfect holiday films to get you in the festive mood!

Is The Christmas Chronicles 3 happening?

As of this moment, neither Netflix nor the creators of the first two movies have confirmed any official plans that they’re going ahead with a third installment in the franchise. The Christmas Chronicles series is a huge hit for the streamer, but with the COVID-19 pandemic still making things difficult in the entertainment industry, especially on production, it’s looking likely that if there were any plans to continue the sage they may have been shelved for the moment.

That being said, Netflix could still choose to add to the two already existing movies in the future. According to an article in The New York Times, Kurt Russell “seemed to hint” that The Christmas Chronicles 3 could still happen, though he also admitted that he had “no idea” what Netflix’s official plans were for the franchise going forward.
