It’s Christmastime on Dynasty, but there’s not much to be jolly about for the Carrington family this year, considering what went down in the season 4 finale. When Christmas comes around in the Dynasty season 5 premiere, the holiday cheer just isn’t hitting how it should.

After Dynasty season 4 come to a close in October 2021 with a shocking cliffhanger ending, Dynasty season 5 makes its triumphant return to The CW on Monday, Dec. 20 with a two-hour premiere complete with another classic Dynasty Christmas celebration.

On Dec. 13, one week ahead of the highly anticipated premiere, TV Line shared an exclusive first look at the season 5 starter, which features a ton of mournful holiday vibes and zero glimpses of the one and only Fallon Carrington.

What can we expect from the Dynasty season 5 premiere episodes based on the trailer? Will Fallon make yet another comeback? And who else appears to be having a blue Christmas? Here’s what you need to know about the season 5 trailer. Spoilers ahead!

Of course, in the Dynasty season 4 finale, Fallon was shot by her former assistant Eva, who made an obvious play for Liam. During Blake’s campaign gala, Fallon collapses to the ground with a bullet wound to the abdomen with her family looking on in shock.

Unfortunately, the Dynasty season 5 trailer doesn’t provide any insight on Fallon’s condition, though we’re not teased with another funeral scene, so that’s at least a silver lining. (Don’t worry, there’s no chance that Fallon would ever be killed off.)

Elsewhere in the season 5 trailer, Alexis dons an orange jumpsuit in jail, while the rest of the Carrington clan sips cocktails and looks vaguely distressed — some surely about Fallon, others about their own personal matters.

Perhaps most of note, Liam asks everyone to share happy holiday memories, but Blake’s angered about their current state of affairs not being the happiest time of the year. Wonder why… Let’s hope Fallon’s getting back to fighting shape for the new year.
