Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story has critics raving, and many Netflix subscribers would like to know if they can experience the enchanting affair on the streaming service.

The famous director has been wowing audiences with so many classic features over the years, like E.T., Hook, Lincoln, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, Ready Player One, and Bridge of Spies, just to name a few. But this time, the talented auteur of cinema has certainly outdone himself with a larger-than-life remake of the legendary West Side Story.

The highly anticipated adaptation of the beloved 1957 musical brilliantly follows the forbidden love that blossoms behind the scenes while a gang rivalry between the Sharks and Jets, two street gangs with different ethnic backgrounds, really starts to heat up! Bringing his vision to life this time around is a stellar cast including Rachel Ziegler, Ansel Elgort, Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, and Rita Moreno.

Watching the excellent musical numbers play out during the intriguing narrative would be an ideal endeavor to watch on Netflix, and if fans want to know if West Side Story is one of the choices available within the streamer’s library, then keep reading!

Is West Side Story on Netflix?

With so many wondrous titles to select from, subscribers can find it a daunting task to keep up with everything available. Those hoping Spielberg’s musical would be an option are about to get slashed with some bad news. West Side Story is not available to watch on Netflix.

There are, however, several other musical options in the movie category on the streaming service right now that subscribers will not want to miss out on! Other musicals fans will find entertaining on Netflix include Tick, Tick… Boom!, Work it, The Prom, and Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

Where to watch West Side Story

West Side Story will be exclusively available in theaters starting on Dec. 10, 2021.
