Of course, there are also some great TV shows. There’s no doubt that you’re spending the weekend binge-watching the final part of Money Heist. But there is still plenty of time to check out the rest of the great content.

The full list can be overwhelming. That’s why we’ve cut it down to just the five top movies on Netflix to check out this weekend.

5 must-watch movies on Netflix to watch this weekend

The Power of the Dog

The first on the list is a movie that is a contender for an Oscar. It has an outstanding cast, and an even more outstanding story.

Benedict Cumberbatch plays Phil Burbank. He’s a rancher who thinks that he’ll never fall in love. When his brother returns home with a new wife and her son, Phil can’t help but make a mockery of the situation. Things start to change, though. But does it involve love?

Single All the Way

For those in need of a Christmas rom-com, Single All the Way is a must. The movie follows Peter, who is single and in need of a date. Not just any date, though. He’s happy single, but he doesn’t want to face the judgment of his family at Christmas.

So, he decides to get his best friend to pretend to be his boyfriend. You just know how this is all going to play out. There’s no point in fighting it. Just enjoy the Christmas rom-com ride.

The Whole Truth

When you’re in need of a horror, there are some great movies on Netflix. The Whole Truth is the latest one. It comes from Thailand, and it follows two siblings who find a mysterious hole in her grandparents’ home.

And it’s not just the hole in the wall that is mysterious. It turns out their mother never told them about their grandparents. Why would she never mention them? Who are these people really?

Love and Fury

Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY created Love and Fury in 2020, and now it’s time to watch it on Netflix. Sterlin Harjo is behind this documentary, and he’s best known for the FX series Reservation Dogs, so you know it’s timely and worth watching.

The documentary chronicles some outstanding Native artists in an attempt to amplify their work. The focus is on giving them the platform to navigate their careers in a post-colonial world without seeking permission to do so.

Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas

Need something for the kids? You’ve got it! There’s nothing better than the world of Wallace and Grommit, which brought us Shaun the Sheep. Now it’s time to follow Shaun on a Christmas adventure.

In this animated story, Shaun’s excitement turns to dismay when Timmy goes missing on a farmhouse raid. All he wanted was bigger stockings, and now he needs to find poor Timmy. Is he down the well? Wait, wrong universe…
