If you’re looking for a feel-good holiday movie that’s a tad more believable than some of the season’s other traditional offerings, let us introduce you to Operation Christmas Drop.

This 2020 Netflix original holiday movie starring Kat Graham and Alexander Ludwig, is based on the Department of Defense’s longest-running humanitarian airlift operation which is rooted in a tradition in which donated goods are airdropped to islanders throughout the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau.

In the film, Graham stars as Erica, a congressional aide, who is sent out to a beachside Air Force base with the goal of defunding the base which puts her at odds with base Captain Andrew Jantz (Ludwig). Needless to say, sparks fly between the two initial rivals as Erica discovers how crucial a role the base plays in the community in observing the planning of the base’s Operation Christmas Drop.
