Calling all alien lovers! Netflix has a great selection of horror movies focusing on the extraterrestrial, and Dark Skies is one of their best options.

Dark Skies stars popular actors Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton and J.K. Simmons, and the story follows a family with two young sons. Early on, they start experiencing strange and unexplainable events, such as their kitchen being moved around and birds flying into their house.

It’s extremely spooky, and only gets more intense from there. When members of the family begin having episodes where they lose time not accounted for, they know they must enlist the help of someone who might know a thing or two about extraterrestrial life. The parents speak with a specialist, who talks about alien abductions and explains different types of aliens.

The family knows they’re really in danger now, and they do whatever it takes to fight off a possible abduction.

Dark Skies does a great job building up suspense and getting you invested in the characters. If you’re into alien movies, you’d better check this one out in time for Halloween. The movie kind of flew under the radar and didn’t get stellar reviews from critics when it was released in 2013, but I personally vouch for it! I’ve seen it a handful of times and it never fails to creep me out.
