You can’t have a Halloween watch list without a vampire pick or two and one of the most popular vampire dramas to ever grace the airwaves is The Vampire Diaries.

The series ran from 2009-2017 on The CW. The initial premise of the show was centered on Elena Gilbert, a teenage girl whose brush with the Salvatore brothers reveals a supernatural connection to their past that she was unaware of. It’s her relationships with both Stefan and Damon Salvatore that bring her friends and family deep into a world where vampires roam the streets unbeknownst to their human counterparts.

Witches and werewolves are also a part of the plot as the show grows to encompass its own supernatural lore which later spawned two spin-offs: The Originals and Legacies.

If you’re looking to indulge in a 2010s era teen drama that’s all about bloodsucking, somewhat narcissistic and broody vampires and includes romance, love triangles, centuries-long feuds, and supernatural showdowns, The Vampire Diaries is the show for you!

While you won’t likely be able to binge the entire series in the month of October, there are plenty of episodes to carry you through to Halloween this holiday season.
