Creep

Release Year: 2014

Directed by Patrick Brice

Cast: Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice

Looking for something peculiar to watch this Halloween? Well, Creep isn’t the most psychologically twisted as a couple of other titles on this list, but it definitely delivers on giving you the chills and a weird feeling.

The found footage film follows Aaron (Brice), a videographer looking for work who stumbles upon a job on Craigslist. Upon accepting, he then meets Josef (Duplass), an eccentric man living alone who wants to make a video of his life for his unborn child to watch. Josef says he’s sick and will die before his pregnant wife gives birth.

Things only go from weird to bizarre pretty early on in the movie, and you’re left fearing for Aaron’s life. Duplass truly shines in Creep and there are so many moments that are so ridiculous, you have to laugh out loud.

In 2017, Creep 2 was released, with Duplass reprising his role as Josef and newcomers Desiree Akhavan and Karan Soni joining the cast. Both films received good reviews from critics, with the sequel holding an impressive 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Both Creep and Creep 2 are now streaming on Netflix, and both are really fun and unsettling watches. Plus, a third movie is said to be in the works, but we haven’t heard much about it since Duplass announced it in 2020.
