Don’t let the brief Santa Claus name-check in the title of this Netflix original comedy series fool you. Santa Clarita Diet has nothing to do with holly jolly annual gift giver and everything to do with zombies in the California town of Santa Clarita.

Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant star as married real estate agent couple Sheila and Joel Hammond, whose lives are turned upside down when Sheila abruptly turns into a flesh-eating zombie.

While this criminally short-lived comedy won’t deliver the usual horror chills and thrills, there’s plenty of gore and zombie mythology to keep the horror fans on the edge of their seats and even more laughs for the comedy buffs in the bunch. You’ve seen zombies done in movies and TV before, but probably not quite like this bloody and silly horror-comedy from creator Victor Fresco.

Even though we could have easily watched the hilarious duo of Barrymore and Olyphant dabble in all things undead for many more seasons, Santa Clarita Diet only lasted for three incredible, can’t-miss seasons. Add them to your spooky season lineup and witness the shocking final moments that will leave you wanting more.
